We Feel Fine

The authors of We Feel Fine (Jonathan Harris & Sepandar Kamvar) created a system that searches out human feelings via the world's blog entries and saves them in this online database. Just how does it find human feelings? It finds phrases that begin with "I feel" and "I am feeling", records the full sentence into the self-organizing system and presents them under six different "movements". You'll just have to see this blogger driven emotion database yourself. Explore the feelings of the world at We Feel Fine

Serial Cut studio

This art direction & graphic design studio hailing from Madrid, Spain has worked on a wide variety of projects including publications such as XLR8R Magazine to nightclub flyers. The simplicity and cleanness of the newspaper motif on their portfolio "Selected Works" page is also reflected in their work. Just look at the stuff they did for the sex section of Tentaciones (simple, classy but not trashy) and their flash websites which are nicely integrated into their website. Splashr beta

Here's another new "r" site that integrates Flickr. Splashr is a tool that allows you to present Flickr photos in different ways based on tags or Flickr ID's. Type in some tags (or an ID), choose a presentation style you like and Splashr creates a photo presentation that you can view or send to someone through email.

Design: Vector Graphics + Havefunandcreate.com

Vector art & design is nothing new. It's everywhere and has been for years now. (Remember all those MTV promos starting around 1998?) Although I still like the style, so many designers have pushed the limits of vector art to the point that I see its tiredness. The death of vector art hasn't happened just yet. Just look at D-Lounge or the work of this designer in Quebec named Yowan Langlais. Pretty cool stuff for a kid who is only 18 and color blind no less! I like checking out designer's online portfolios because you can see the artistic development over time and updated as the portfolios grow. Link to Langlais' site: Havefunandcreate.com

Life: Fo.rtuito.us beta

Their tag line asks: What would happen if we no longer used things like looks, age, sex and nationality to decide if we would try and become friends with a person? On Fo.ftuito.us, you can make friends with random people, only you can't search for people based on age/sex/nationality/etc. or view profiles like other networking or community sites. You are basically introduced to one random person every 4 days. Chat with and get to know that person for 4 days and then you can decide if you want to add that person to your friends list. The randomness is kind of fun although I have one gripe about the beta - It requires a photo upload when you sign up but if you use your own photo, wouldn't that allow people to decide if they want to be your friend based on how you look? I suggest uploading a neutral picture (not one of yourself) to get the full experience. Check out the beta for fortuitous, serendipitous fun:

Photography: Will Pearson London Based Photographer

One of my growing passions is photography. I love taking pictures and take my camera everywhere I go. (Why do all my hobbies cost so much money?) In a perfect world I'd walk the earth armed with a camera and snap away. Unfortunately for me it's not a perfect world, but I can surely appreciate the photographic talents of others like Will Pearson. I found this photographer's site on Mooch today and wow. Check out his fashion panoramas and circular fish-eye panoramas. I miss London.

Music: J Dilla: Donuts and Madlib tha Beat Konducta Vol. 1-2: Movie Scenes

If you haven't already picked these two albums up, what the hell are you doing? Whereas mainstream hip hop and rap leaves so much to be desired, innovators like J Dee and Madlib have kept me interested at least in the beat-making side of hip hop. If you are tired of the screaming, babbling, ranting of today's MTV hip hop, listen to these masters of production work sans emcees for a return to the jazzy/soulful sound of 1990's hiphop with a distinguishably mature production value. -- R.I.P. Jumpcut Beta

Jumpcut is an online video editing website where you can upload and create your own videos in a Flash-based environment. It is still in beta mode but the community is growing not unlike the Flickr community. Speaking of Flickr, Jumpcut allows you to upload photos directly from your Flickr page. Go and create your own video or try your hand at remixing a trailer for the upcoming film A Scanner Darkly. Link: Jumpcut

Getty Images' 10 Ways

Here's a collaboration between 5 designers and Getty Images that explores visual language in 10 interactive ways. I got completely lost in the different projects. Engage yourself:

Nike + iPod Sport Kit

Tech experts have said that tighter integration and communication between different tech items is what lies ahead for the immediate future. Here's Nike and Apple's latest contribution to that trend. New Nike shoes will be able to "talk" to an iPod Nano and give exercisers information about their workout. Sometimes I am jealous of future generations only because I won't get to see some of the amazing technological advances beyond mp3 players talking to shoes. Read the full story at LATimes.

Still working out some details on customization but meanwhile...

I must admit that I've become a YouTube junkie. You can find anything from Celine Dion singing and dancing as Madonna and Michael Jackson (horrifying yet compelling), to amateur cartoon voiceovers like the "Juggernaut Bitch". I really couldn't stop laughing at this nonsensical and juvenile dubbing of an episode of the X-Men cartoon. Ketchup. Comb yo beard. Hit you with your own pimp. You can only understand by watching (thanks Naztradamix):
